You will be exploring what cancer screening means, and what cancer prevention involves, and why these are important for the health of people with intellectual disabilities, who face significant inequalities in health and cancer outcomes. Crucially, the session will also centre the voices and lived experiences of people with intellectual disabilities themselves — their perspectives on cancer, screening, and prevention, and why equitable access to these services matters to them. Their insights remind us that this is not just a clinical issue, but a matter of rights, dignity, and fairness.
