Dedicated to research, collaboration, and capacity building in the area of cancer prevention for persons with specific needs (intellectual disabilities), the CUPID project acknowledges that providing information to affected individuals in an accessible way will enable them to receive the right medical information and empower them to make choices that can dramatically affect their health and quality of life.
In that direction, WG leaders and members prioritize producing project dissemination information in an Easy Read format, suitable for the target audience. To achieve this, an interactive training session on preparing Easy Read documents was held online via Zoom on June 14th, 2024. The training was conducted by Louise Toth from Easy Read UK.
During the 3.5 hours training, participants were acquainted with the principles of Easy Read and taught how to produce Easy Read documents, including the following topics:
‒ wording (concise and relevant content using straightforward and simple language),
‒ images (pictures, symbols, etc.) that support the text messages,
‒ document layout and formatting that is easy to follow. This training is expected to facilitate the creation and production of health-related documents within the CUPID project, ensuring they are in a format that appropriately addresses the specific needs of the intended audience by effectively communicating crucial information.
